Follow the Thread: The Material of Life by Liz Baird

Ayr’s Glenfairn House and Narture CIC proudly present an exhibition celebrating the embroidered artistry of Liz Baird. Running from Tuesday 25th February to Saturday 1st March at Shape – Food & Arts Venue (32 Newmarket Street, Ayr), this exhibition showcases a lifetime of creativity through intricate textile works that capture Scottish landscapes, storytelling and the beauty found in everyday life.

Liz Baird has spent decades perfecting her embroidery techniques, using needle and thread to translate her vision into stunning works of art. Her work ranges from detailed depictions of nature to humorous, whimsical compositions, reflecting her rich creative journey. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Liz’s evolving practice and the enduring power of artistic expression.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Glenfairn House, a leading care home in Ayr that supports residents in pursuing their passions, and Narture CIC, a local social enterprise dedicated to championing artists and fostering community creativity. Together, they aim to challenge perceptions around aging and creativity, proving that artistry continues to thrive at every stage of life.

Visitors can explore Liz’s work, meet the team behind the exhibition, and celebrate the connections between art, wellbeing and community.
