The Bachelors’ Club is situated on Sandgate Street in the farming village of Tarbolton, and is now a small museum run by the National Trust for Scotland. Robert Burns and his friends founded the club after his family moved to a nearby farm, and it was here that he started a debating club and learned to dance!
You can learn more about these important years that shaped the poet, in a room that’s been authentically restored to create the original atmosphere. It’s easy to imagine Burns and his peers gathered there to debate the important issues of the day – look out for the ’10 rules of membership’ that were written by Burns himself.
