Culzean Castle and Country Park is a must-see on any visit to South Ayrshire. Designed by 18th century, celebrity architect Robert Adam, it’s simply spectacular, nestled among the cliffs on the approach from the winding Carrick coastal road.
Enjoy idyllic walks in lush, green woodland and explore sandy coves where smugglers offloaded their loot into a network of caves and tunnels that you can see along the rocky shoreline. There’s plenty of interesting wildlife, lots of perfect picnic spots and plenty for families to explore at the Adventure Cove and Wild Woodland play park areas.
Visit the Victorian Camelia House, Orangerie and Walled Garden and, of course, Culzean Castle itself, which has a fascinating history from spooky ghost stories, to tales of the Kennedy family and its association with General Eisenhower.
There are plenty of facilities around the park where you can enjoy a delicious lunch, coffee, home baking or an ice cream.
Culzean is host to a busy calendar of events. To keep-up-to-date visit our Eventbrite page.
