There’s a fantastic line-up of live music, film, theatre and comedy, as well as exhibitions and family events at venues across South Ayrshire this spring. We’ve got some highlights for March-May for you here, but be sure to check out the full What’s On listing on our website.
Ayr Choral Union presents the incredible Medelssohn’s Elijah in Ayr Town Hall on 29 March, while on 14 April Opera Bohemia, Scotland’s professional touring company, performs Strauss’s sparkling comic masterpiece, Die Fledermaus at the Gaiety. The Girvan Traditional Folk Festival, now in its 51st year, returns on 1-3 May with a great line-up of guest musicians.
Over a dozen top Tribute shows are coming to Ayr and Troon this season. Featuring everything from country and K-Pop, to Motown, 2Tone and pop icons, acts include tributes to Fleetwood Mac, Luke Combs, Celine Dion and Meat Loaf.
Theatre performances include the Greek tragedy Medea, the poignant Sailmaker by Alan Spence, the comedy of manners God of Carnage and Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d. The popular A Play, A Pie, And A Pint also returns in collaboration with Glasgow’s Òran Mór.
Comedy fans can look forward to Milton Jones & Friends, Jack Docherty in The Chief – No Apologies and The Big Comedy Roadshow, while youngsters are sure to love The MacDougalls: Farmyard Fun and Seussical from the Gaity Musical and Youth Theatres.
The Grain Exchange is hosting a varied programme of exhibitions including Coasts and Creatures until 15 March, From Little Acorns from 31 March – 12 April and The History of Ayr Town Hall, running between 28 April – 10 May to celebrate the iconic building’s 200th anniversary. Between 14 March and 24 May, Rozelle House Museum and Galleries is celebrating the Ayrshire Quilters, while the Lighthouses: Keepers of the Craig runs until 16 May at Girvan’s McKechnie Institute.

This annual event returns to Ayr Low Green on Saturday 20 June with an afternoon full of exciting and engaging attractions and entertainment with something for everyone to enjoy.

Save the date for the biggest free event in Scotland this year, the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight, taking place at Ayr Shorefront on 4 - 5 September.
