Red, Red Rose Children’s Trail

Red, Red Rose Children’s Trail

22 - 31 January 2025
10am - 3pm
Trail Sheet £3
Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Murdoch's Lone, Alloway, Ayr KA7 4PQ

Taking inspiration from the title of the Burns’ poem ‘A Red, Red Rose’ we have created a new children’s trail for this January. Take your clue sheet and Map to locate and solve the clues on the Poet’s Path and the smallholding at Burns Birthplace Cottage.

Purchase your trail sheet £3 from the Museum reception and follow the clues up Poet’s Path and into the cottage smallholding.

Each answer will give you a word with a special letter which helps spell out a word or phrase.

When you have solved all the clues and know what the word is, take your clue sheet back to the entry point at the cottage site and claim your mini haggis.

Trail sheets can be purchased from the cottage or museum but we recommend starting your trail at the museum end of Poets’ Path as the clues run in order from there to the cottage.

Trail sheets cost £3 each and it’s one prize per sheet.

Suitable for children and adults of all ages, though younger children may need some help from older peers, making this a great family/ team activity.

Reserve a trail sheet here and pay at reception when you collect it.

Last trails sheet sold at 2.30pm daily.

This image features a central portrait of a man in historical attire, surrounded by smaller oval portraits of five women. The man, painted in a classical style, appears to be Robert Burns, a famous Scottish poet. The women are shown in modern photographs, each wearing attire reminiscent of historical or traditional Scottish clothing. The portraits are placed on a wooden background, with the central portrait prominently highlighted.
