Portrait Competition Guidelines
The Portrait Competition is being run by The Electric Brae Gallery in conjunction with South Ayrshire Council Cutty-Sark Centre.
The winner will be decided by public voting throughout the exhibition. A Prize supplied will be awarded by the Waverley Gallery, Prestwick for the work with most votes. Voting closes on Sunday 7th April 2024.
Announcement of the winner and take down event Thursday 11th April 2024, 5pm – 6pm.
Works will be shown online (please advise the gallery if you do not wish to be included).
All works to be delivered to:
- The Cutty-Sark Centre, 40 High Street, Ayr KA7 1PA
- Tuesday 19th & Wednesday 20th March, 12noon - 4pm (Prior arrangement for other times)
Any works submitted after this date will be subject to extra administrative fee.
All work must be removed from the gallery between Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th April, 12.30pm – 4pm.
Any works not uplifted, cannot be safely stored and will be subject to a storage charge of £5 per week.
It is the artists responsibly to insure works during the exhibition.

- Administrative costs & hanging fee £10 per work
- Maximum of 3 works per exhibitor
- 10% commission on any sales go to the gallery
- Only original work can be submitted – any media considered
- All artwork for the exhibition must be presented ready for display. 2D, ideally framed, but must be corded with D-clips
- Identification should be attached to the back- including your name and contact details
