Thinking Day 100 Parade – Girlguiding Ayrshire South

Thinking Day 100 Parade – Girlguiding Ayrshire South

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the largest voluntary movement dedicated to empowering girls and young women in the world, and World Thinking Day has been celebrated since 1926. It’s a day of international friendship and an opportunity to celebrate the Girlguiding and Girl Scouting Movement, speak out on issues that affect young women, and fundraise for 10.8 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 153 countries.

To mark the occasion, we are running a big event in Ayr – a lantern parade and ceremony in Ayr Town Centre, inviting all of our young members and their families to join us to celebrate the history of the movement. The girls are creating lanterns expressing what Thinking Day means to them, and what it means to be a Guide in 2026, compared to 1926.

Families and friends of our members, please save the date and come and line the high street for our parade!
