The Great Summer Quest – Warriors Workshop

Looking for an unforgettable summer adventure? Join us at Dundonald Castle for The Great Summer Quest, a series of exciting, hands-on historical adventures for children aged 5 and over.

Each session explores a different theme from the past, giving young adventurers the chance to learn new skills, take part in interactive activities, and experience history in a fun and engaging way.

Whether training as a medieval warrior, handling armour as a knight, uncovering the secrets of the Romans, joining a Viking invasion, or meeting real birds of prey, there’s a new adventure waiting every week.

Summer Quest Adventures:

  • Way of the Warrior Workshop – 03/07/2026 – Archery, sword fighting and medieval war paint
  • Knights of the Castle Workshop – 10/07/2026 – Armour handling, sword fighting and jousting
  • Here Come the Romans Workshop – 22/07/2026 – Roman medicine, food and gladiators
  • Viking Invasion Workshop – 31/07/2026 – War paint, mythology, runes and the road to Valhalla
  • Medieval Hunting & Owls Workshop – 07/08/2026 – Learn about medieval hunting, discover birds of prey and hold a real live owl on your arm


Each two-hour session includes a welcome briefing, exciting activity stations, and a certificate of participation to take home.

Children can join a single session or return throughout the summer to complete the full quest.

Session Times: 10am–12pm and 2pm–4pm
Suitable for: Ages 5+
Places: Limited to 20 children per session

Book now and discover a different side of history every week at Dundonald Castle!

Parents and guardians are welcome to watch the activities from the designated viewing area on the walkway inside Dundonald Castle’s Laigh Hall. This allows children to take part fully while remaining visible to accompanying adults throughout the session.
