Battle of the Somme Commemoration Service Join us for a moving Service of Commemoration honouring the soldiers who fought and fell during the Battle of the Somme, one of the most significant and devastating battles of the First World War. This historic event resulted in more than one million casualties, including over 420,000 troops from the British Empire.
The Royal Scots Fusiliers led the advance and suffered severe losses, while many local men fought alongside soldiers of the Indian Army, forging bonds of courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood. This commemorative service pays tribute to their bravery and ensures their stories are never forgotten.
Visitors, history enthusiasts, and local communities are invited to come together to remember these brothers in arms, reflect on their legacy, and honour the enduring impact of the Somme on our shared heritage.
