Discover Art Deco in Ayrshire: Irvine to Girvan, a captivating exhibition at the McKechnie Institute by digital artist Rona McSeveny, inspired by the natural and cultural beauty of Ayrshire. Showcasing the region’s rich heritage through the distinctive style of Art Deco, this exhibition celebrates iconic Ayrshire landmarks and landscapes, from Irvine in the north to Girvan in the south, reimagined as vibrant and striking digital artworks.
Drawing inspiration from the famous railway travel posters of the 1920s and 1930s, which helped promote tourism to Britain’s coastal destinations, Rona’s work captures the elegance and optimism of Art Deco architecture and design. Featured locations include Girvan Art Deco Station, recognised as the only operating Art Deco railway station in Scotland.
With more than 30 framed digital prints on display, Art Deco in Ayrshire: Irvine to Girvan showcases Ayrshire’s landscapes, architecture and folklore through a style synonymous with a golden age of travel, art and design. Artwork will be available to purchase throughout the exhibition.
