Explore Girvan Beach as we look for birds, plants and insects across the habitat
This event is part of a series encouraging families to connect with nature across South Ayrshire.
Join us for a day at the beach where we will look for birds in the air and along the rocky shores and look for bugs and plants on the grassy sections.
Where should we meet?
Meet inside Girvan Library. We will wait for a maximum of 5 minutes for latecomers, after which we will leave the library to travel to the activity area.
Who is the event open to?
This event is open to all ages, and under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.
What do I need to bring?
If you have binoculars or a pond dipping net feel free to bring them. I will have binoculars, nets, id guides and specimen trays with me.
What should I wear?
Please check the weather; we will be outside and walking from Girvan Library to Girvan Lighthouse and beach (5 minutes), so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Who is delivering this workshop?
Aimée Moretti. I am a Senior Project Officer with The Conservation Volunteers where I deliver Citizen Science sessions across Scotland. Citizen science is the collection or analysis of scientific data by members of the general public. It’s all about discovering wildlife, exploring habitats, and finding out more about the data you can collect to protect biodiversity.
If you know you won’t make it please let me know ASAP. Unfortunately with free events people feel less committed to attend and often don’t inform hosts that they won’t attend. It’s a shame when this happens as other interested folk may miss out on booking a space.
