Scots – The Musical

Scots – The Musical

Raw Material, in association with Beacon Arts, presents SCOTS – The Musical by Scott Gilmour & Claire McKenzie. Directed by Jemima Levick and designed by Kenny Miller.

The musical history lesson no one asked for — but everyone needs!

SCOTS is the story of Scotland: its past, present and future. Its people and places, triumphs and failures. And it’s all told by someone who has seen it all
A figure who watched the Picts and Celts unite, survived the battles of Stirling and Bannockburn, heard the Declaration of Arbroath, witnessed the Scottish Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, the fight for women’s rights, the battle for LGBTQ+ equality, the call for independence — basically someone who’s seen some amount of s**t…

Scotland’s greatest invention… The Toilet.

SCOTS is an irreverent, hilarious and surprisingly poignant journey through the nation’s history. A multi-skilled ensemble retells some of our most iconic (and some long forgotten) stories — all to answer one fundamental question:

What makes a country?

Following ecstatic reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, this “truly incredible” (Broadway World) show has been expanded for a new tour across Scotland, as a Raw Material production in association with Beacon Arts Centre.

Supported by Creative Scotland.
