Maidens Beach

Maidens KA26 9NS

Maidens Beach is a lovely, long sandy beach and a grass foreshore. The harbour, like many Ayrshire harbours, was built for fishing, but today is mainly used by folk who sail for pleasure.

At the north of the beach is Culzean Castle and Country Park, and to the south are Port Murray and Turnberry. The village is very popular, with two caravan parks and many day-trippers who come to enjoy the beach, and the picnic and play area.

There is a nearby riding school, which often uses the beach for classes. It’s also an excellent spot for ornithologists; with the bay forming part of the R.S.P.B designated Ornithological Site, running from Girvan to Maidens. The scenery is stunning, looking out to Arran, Ailsa Craig, and on a clear day, the Mull of Kintyre.
