Ballantrae Beach

Ballantrae beach is beautiful place to visit, with a charming mixture of tranquillity and ruggedness. To the north is the harbour, once home to a thriving fishing community, where families occupied all the cottages along the foreshore. As with most small fishing towns and villages, there’s no commercial fishing now, and sailing is all for pleasure.

The beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, and the south is an area that has been listed by Scottish Natural Heritage as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It provides the perfect habitat for a wide range of coastal plant life, and is home to a colony of breeding birds.
