Gabriella Teychenné – Conductor

This Valentine’s Day, British conductor Gabriella Teychenné and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera unite two influential Romantic masters: Wagner and Bruckner at Ayr Town Hall.

Opening the concert is three excerpts from Wagner’s opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, showcasing The Orchestra at its most dramatic and inventive. Next is the intimate Siegfried Idyll, originally a birthday gift for Wagner’s wife.

This contrasts beautifully with Bruckner’s majestic Fourth Symphony, the ‘Romantic’. While Wagner weaves a personal narrative, Bruckner channels the otherworldliness of Wagner with his magical horncalls and shimmering evocation of the German forest.

Programme:
WAGNER: Excerpts from Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg
Overture
Prelude to Act III
Dance of the Apprentices

WAGNER: Siegfried Idyll

BRUCKNER : Symphony No 4 ‘Romantic’
