Shorelines Exhibition by Roddy McKenzie

An oil painting of a seascape, depicting a turbulent ocean with crashing waves in shades of blue, white, and deep green. The thick, textured brushstrokes give a sense of movement and energy to the water. In the background, a misty landmass or rocky formation emerges from the sea, partially obscured by the atmospheric haze. The sky is overcast with a mix of light gray and white tones, blending seamlessly into the distant horizon. The painting has an impressionistic style, emphasizing the raw power and beauty of the ocean.

Roddy was born in Prestwick. He studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1978 to 1982 emerging with a BA (Hons) degree in fine art. Although his initial interest was in painting and drawing, he studied sculpture at Glasgow, returning to painting full time on graduation.
