Lace up your boots and step back in time! This historic 12km (7.5 mile) rugged hill route appears on the first ever OS Map dating back to 1856 and was likely used for centuries before that by a diverse cast of historic figures, including cattle drovers and smugglers.
Discover this scenic route for yourself with professional local Guides from Gillian’s Walks taking care of the navigation and logistics for you, as well as enhancing the experience with a handful of “fun facts” along the way.
From the highest point, weather permitting, the crisp autumn air should provide exceptional visibility over the Stinchar Valley, the Galloway hills, and back out toward Ailsa Craig and Arran.
Meet at Girvan’s Ainslie Car Park at 9.30am, finishing at approximately 3pm at Barr Village hall, where BBQ food and drink will be available to purchase. Transport provided back to Girvan.
Please note that a reasonable level of fitness is required to do this walk. Children aged 14 -17 should be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for dogs due to livestock.
This is a free event however spaces are limited so pre-registration is required.
