Doors Open Days – Carnegie Library

The Carnegie Library was built via a gift from Andrew Carnegie in 1893. The Architects were Campbell Douglas and Morrison of Glasgow. The exterior has an impressive red sandstone Renaissance-style frontage, best viewed from across the road. Later additions include the Non-Fiction Library, originally a reference Library and Lecture Hall designed by the distinguished Ayr firm of James Kennedy Hunter and opened in 1934.
