Bonsai Open Exhibition

A presentation of the art of bonsai, featuring a display of traditional Japanese arts and crafts, including Origami, Ikebana, Kintsugi, Boro, Shisheki, Kimono dressing, and more.

The Scottish Bonsai Open Exhibition features:

• an extensive display of 100+ bonsai trees
• advice and information on the hobby
• traders selling trees, pots, tools, display tables and supplies etc

A “Japanese Village” displaying:
• Ikebana (flower arranging)
• kintsugi, (repairing ceramics with gold)
• calligraphy (Japanese lettering/design)
• sumo (Japanese wrestling)
• kyudo (traditional Japanese archery)
• boro stitching (Japanese textile repair)
• sashiko (traditional embroidery technique)
• shiatsu (Japanese massage technique)
• Kimono (dressing in a kimono)

As a special feature our Japanese Village will also include musical interludes on Japanese
instruments such as the koto and shamisen.

Refreshments will also be available.
