A Blether O’ Books with Leslie Hills

A Blether O’ Books with Leslie Hills

10 Scotland Street tells the story of an Edinburgh home, its cast of inhabitants, and their connections across the globe.

Spanning more than two centuries, 10 Scotland Street follows an extraordinary range of characters — including booksellers, silk merchants, sailors, preachers and politicians — alongside cholera outbreaks, coincidence and chance. From Edinburgh, the story reaches as far as the Caribbean, Irkutsk, Calcutta and Sydney, and reveals an unexpected, if tenuous, connection with Robert Burns.

Leslie Hills is a film producer and occasional writer whose work spans drama, politics, current affairs and the arts. She now focuses on producing award-winning cinema documentaries with her German partners, financed and filmed across five continents and distributed internationally. She has delivered seminars from Toronto to St Petersburg and has consulted on and edited scripts for international film commissions, festivals and training programmes. Hills is a member of BAFTA and the German Film Academy, and a past Chair of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. 10 Scotland Street is her first book.
