Narture began in June 2020, founded by artist father-and-daughter team Robert and Saskia Singer. Established on the belief that everyone is an artist and that creativity can transform communities, what started as a project occupying empty town-centre spaces has grown into a social enterprise rooted in food, creativity and wellbeing.
Today, Narture is bringing new life to Ayr’s High Street by transforming derelict buildings into places where people can make, learn, gather and grow. Through a range of creative and community-focused initiatives, the organisation creates opportunities for people to connect, develop skills and shape the future of their local area.
Create is Ayrshire’s first RISO print studio and darkroom hub. Housed in a former café at 22 Sandgate, the space now offers sustainable printmaking and analogue photography workshops, providing accessible opportunities for people to explore creative processes and learn new skills.
The studio is also home to Narture’s own print production, where all of the organisation’s menus and newspapers are RISO-printed. At its heart, Create is a space dedicated to experimentation, creativity and joyful making, encouraging people of all ages and experience levels to discover the possibilities of print and photography.
