Rozelle House Museum and Park, Ayr

Located in beautiful parkland, the ever-popular Rozelle House Museum and Galleries is best known for its permanent display of Alexander Goudie’s magnificent paintings inspired by Robert Burns’ poem ‘Tam o’ Shanter’. Add to this a regular programme of changing exhibitions, events, free activities and superb tearoom, Rozelle is a must visit for all this summer.

In Rozelle House

  • Objects, artefacts and works of art from the South Ayrshire Council collections.

  • A selection of paintings from Goudie’s magnificent 54-piece ‘Tam o’ Shanter’ series which changes throughout the year.

  • A new exhibition (from 20 June – 13 September) celebrating the 200th anniversary of the RSA – Royal Scottish Academy 200: Celebrating Together With Frances Walker And Ade Adesina – which includes newly commissioned artworks for sale, available to purchase in the gallery.

  • The Ayrshire Yeomanry Museum which tells the story of their history through a display of archives, artefacts and original costume.

  • Free activities including sketching bags, family friendly gallery explorer sheets and even a small putting green. (Please ask at reception.)

Food and Drink
  • An Engagement Space for free, family friendly, self-led crafts on the themes of the rotating exhibitions.

  • A selection of postcards and art prints from South Ayrshire Council collections, plus tote bags, gifts and more available to purchase in the gallery shop stand.

  • A delicious lunch, coffee and homebaking downstairs in the tearoom, with patio seating also offering beautiful views of the park.

  • A sheltered courtyard with picnic seating to enjoy.

  • The Maclaurin Art Gallery where you can view a range of temporary, contemporary art exhibitions from local, national and internationally acclaimed artists.

In the park

  • Situated amongst some of the ground’s ancient trees at the back of Rozelle House are the wonderful Ronald Rae Sculptures titled ‘Tragic Sacrifice of Christ’.

  • The Story Stroll, a fabulous family friendly, self-led trail featuring stunning willow sculptures of characters from favourite stories, all with a Scottish link, including Captain Hook, Katie Morag and Peter Rabbit.

  • The poignant Remembrance Woodland featuring a stunning tree sculpture trail, created by professional chainsaw carvers as part of the WW1 Centenary Commemorations.

  • Relaxing woodland walks or picnics in the beautiful gardens combining mature woodland, rhododendrons and an ornamental pond.
