Ayr

Once a bustling market town and international port, the historic town of Ayr is still thriving. It has lots of excellent shops, lively bars, well-run hotels and restaurants, plus a wide range of attractions for the whole family.

Along the wide Victorian esplanade, you’ll find an exciting play park and wide sandy beaches that are just perfect for a leisurely walk, a dip in the sea, or for enjoying a delicious ice cream.

Ayr Racecourse hosts regular meetings, from the Scottish Grand National to the Ayrshire Handicap and Ayr Gold Cup. For golf enthusiasts, you can play at Belleisle, Seafield and Dalmilling courses, or for art and culture, there’s the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, the Maclaurin Art Gallery or new Ayrshire talent at regular exhibitions and creative markets at The Grain Exchange.

A large group of cyclists gathered outdoors in daylight, standing with their road bikes in front of a modern building with a stone wall. Many cyclists are wearing matching orange cycling jerseys, helmets, and cycling shorts, suggesting they are part of an organised club ride. The riders and bicycles are arranged loosely in a semi-circle, facing toward the camera. The bicycles have thin tyres and drop handlebars typical of road bikes. In the top-left corner of the image, there is a bright orange square graphic with white and black text that reads: “AYR BURNERS CYCLING.” Behind the group, the building features a stone wall with engraved text that includes the words “ROBERT BURNS BIRTHPLACE MUSEUM” (partially visible), indicating the location. The background includes tall green trees under a clear blue sky, and sunlight casts long shadows on the paved surface, suggesting the photo was taken in the morning or late afternoon. The overall scene conveys a group cycling meetup or event in a cultural or historic outdoor setting.
