Five Towns Celebrate Christmas!
For a six week period starting on Sunday 21st November 2021, South Ayrshire Town Centres will be transformed into a Festive spectacular! There will be something for everyone as you take a ‘Wander’ around each Town Centre. Visitors are welcome to come along and enjoy the numerous attractions on offer any time late November and early January 2022.
Here are some of the exciting treats to look out for...
Wish Upon A Star
Make sure Santa receives your Christmas wish by posting a message into one of the Christmas Stars. Stars are located in The Grain Exchange in Ayr and all South Ayrshire libraries.
Local, talented artists have produced festive installations for you to enjoy – be sure to find them all located across the 5 Towns
The ‘Winter Wanderland Craft Pack’ contains a variety of fun, family activities to be taken away at enjoyed at home. Packs can be collected from the Grain Exchange in Ayr, all local library branches, Maybole’s Carrick Centre and selected Supermarket stores: Troon – Morrisons, Ayr – Tesco, Prestwick – Sainsburys, Maybole – Co-op and Girvan – Asda
Shop Window Display
As you ‘wander’ through each of the 5 Towns, look out for many of your favourite retailers who have entered into the Christmas spirit by decorating their shop windows with either a tradition festive or a Pantomime theme
Who doesn’t love a selfie? And even better when your backdrop has a fun festive feeling. There are various locations throughout each of the 5 Towns for the perfect selfie. Take a selfie and use the hashtag #sacwanderland
Shop Scavenger Hunt
Taking part in the Shop Scavenger Hunt is simple, all you have to do is:
- Collect a Scavenger Hunt Card from the Grain Exchange in Ayr or Troon, Maybole, Prestwick and Girvan library branches
- Look in shop windows across the 5 Towns to find the ‘Winter Wanderland’ logo. When you find one, mark it on your Scavenger Card
- When your card is complete, return it to the Grain Exchange in Ayr or Troon, Maybole, Prestwick and Girvan library branches to receive a small prize

Girvan Christmas Street Party Committee have unfortunately had to cancel their planned fun day. However, the Girvan Christmas lights will shine bright for you to enjoy from Sunday 5th December.
Be sure to visit Prestwick to see the wonderful festive lighting as well as additional displays for this year. Don’t forget to visit the many local retailers with unique gifts to suit all your Christmas shopping needs.
Troon Community Council’s ever popular Family Fun Day is on Sunday 21st November, 1pm – 5pm. Commencing with the award winning 1st Troon BB Pipe Band in the garden of Troon Old Parish Church and finishing at the Beacon. There are events throughout the town. Many of the town’s shops and business premises will be open to give everyone a unique experience of Troon town centre.
