Destination South Ayrshire (South Ayrshire Council) is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
- At 400% zoom and in mobile view (320 x 256 pixels), it is not possible to read all of the content within the cookie banner as the content overflows the visible part of the screen and cannot be scrolled [This fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow]
After tabbing from the ‘Manage Cookie Consent’ banner, the keyboard focus can move to the page content behind it. This results in the focused element being completely hidden from view by the cookie banner [This fails WCAG 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum)
- The What’s On pop-up calendar date selector is not accessible using a keyboard. [This fails WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard]
Images on some pages do not always have suitable image descriptions. Users of assistive technologies may not have access to information conveyed in images. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
- On the Submit Your Event the ‘Choose Files’ button does not have accessible text [WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships and WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value]
The keyboard focus is not visible when it tabs onto the row of four links under ‘Stay’ section carosel. [WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible]
Content from external third-party sites linked from our site may not meet accessibility standards and we have limited control over this
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Using a content management system that supports semantic HTML, heading structure and ARIA roles
Ensuring adequate colour contrast for text and background
Enabling keyboard navigation and logical tab order across the site
Making sure images include alternative text descriptions where appropriate
Testing the site with screen readers and assistive technologies
Providing an accessibility-aware design process for future updates
Reviewing and updating our content regularly to ensure it remains accessible
