The seaside town of Girvan is a great destination for a relaxed holiday, or just for a day out in the sunshine. The traditional fishing harbour and wide, sandy beach have made it a place where families have enjoyed themselves for generations.
Girvan harbour looks out to nearby Ailsa Craig, and you can catch regular boat trips out past the lighthouse to fish, or to explore the granite ‘Fairy Isle’, which is home to 40,000 gannets and is still used to make the best curling stones in the world.
Inland, there are many popular trails for keen walkers in the hills and Carrick Forest, and no fewer than 20 different castles to explore. There are many links to Robert the Bruce and you’ll find traces of him everywhere.
